A defining feature of e-TEP is that it assesses productive skills as well as reading and listening within one test. Its certification framework targets CEFR levels B1, B2 and C1.
The test is delivered in two sessions. Session one contains Reading and Listening; session two contains Speaking and Writing. A five-minute interval separates the sessions, and the guide does not permit candidates to leave their desks during it.
Reading allows forward and backward navigation, so candidates can mark a difficult item and return later. Any time saved from the 60 minutes is not added to Listening.
Recordings and instructions are played once. Before the audio begins, candidates should scan questions, predict speaker-purpose-setting relationships and identify the expected answer type.
The first task is a technical and psychological warm-up and is not scored. Tasks two and three expect about 60 seconds each; task four expects 150 seconds. Preparation time is provided before each task.
Task one receives 15 minutes and task two 30 minutes. Candidates must meet the minimum word count shown for each task; time or length cannot be borrowed from the other task.
Each skill contributes 30 points to a total of 120. Incorrect objective answers do not cancel correct ones. Speaking and Writing are rated by two independent raters, with a third process where required.
e-TEP is delivered in capacity-limited electronic test centres. The 2026 guide lists Adana, Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, and the payment order may determine whether a candidate secures a seat.
